Laser treatment success for incontinent patients in Ireland

The treatment using an Erbium Laser has been introduced in Cork University Hospital. The laser beam is directed to the art of the vagina above the neck of the bladder. This heats the collagen in the vaginal walls, stimulating growth of new collagen which tightens the vaginal walls providing greater support to the bladder.

Patients benefit from the procedure being conducted in day surgery, with two treatments over a four week period. The procedure has a success rate of up to 90%.
